Bookhaul november

Hoewel ik mijzelf had voorgehouden gewoon mijn koopverbod door te zetten, is dat deze maand niet helemaal gelukt. In mijn omgeving is er een winkel die een boekenwinkel heeft opgekocht en boeken dus voor vrij weinig geld verkoopt! Het nieuwste boek van Esther Verhoef, De Kraamhulp, was namelijk maar 12 euro.  En dat terwijl hij tussen de normale boeken er gewoon nog voor 20 euro lag. En nergens beschadigingen ofzo. Dus ik ben lekker los gegaan.

Dit zijn de zes boeken die ik deze maand gekocht heb:

1. De Kraamhulp – Esther Verhoef
   Als Didi na een zware bevalling van haar eerste kindje aan bed is gekluisterd, is ze dolgelukkig met de hulp van de kraamhulp. De baby is lief en gezond, maar Didi’s herstel gaat langzaam.Miriam, werkzaam bij de politie Rotterdam, kan de plotselinge dood van haar broer niet verwerken. Ze vermoedt kwade opzet van zijn mooie weduwe Hennequin. Tijdens haar zoektocht naar Hennequins verleden groeit bij Miriam de overtuiging dat ze te maken heeft met een levensgevaarlijke psychopate. En juist deze vrouw heeft zich onmisbaar gemaakt in het jonge, kwetsbare gezin…
2. Het rampzalige verhaal van jou en mij – Jess Rothenberg
   Sterven aan een gebroken hart is nog maar het begin. Welkom in de eeuwigheid!Als Brie wordt gedumpt door Jacob betekent dat het einde van haar wereld. Letterlijk. Alleen is Brie nog niet klaar om onder de zoden te liggen en ze blijft als geest op aarde. Nu ze D&W is (Dood en Weg), komt Brie erachter dat liefde veel ingewikkelder is dan ze ooit had gedacht. In Half Moon Bay begint haar familie uit elkaar te vallen. Haar beste vriendin verbergt een geheim over Jacob en de waarheid achter zijn verraad. En dan is er Patrick, Brie’s mysterieuze nieuwe gids en collega-Verloren Ziel die misschien wel de sleutel tot haar eeuwige geluk in handen heeft.
3. Voilet – Abigail Gibbs
   Door een toevallige ontmoeting op een verlaten plein stort Violet in een wereld die haar wildste fantasieën overtreft – een wereld vol elegantie en schoonheid waar aristocratische vampieren wonen en hun decadente genoegens uitleven… een plaats van waaruit geen ontsnapping mogelijk is … Maar onder die pracht en praal gaat een duisternis schuil, belichaamd in de charismatische, maar gevaarlijke erfgenaam van de troon, Kaspar Varn. Als Violet en Kaspar zich overgeven aan een passie die hun gescheiden werelden overstijgt, ontdekken ze dat het een passie is die een prijs heeft.
4. Herfstroos – Abigail Gibbs
   Herfstroos woont in een slaperig kuststadje in Zuid-Engeland. Diep onder het oppervlak van haar rustige leven bevinden zich duistere geheimen. Haar grootmoeder werd vermoord, en het bruisende Londen is heel ver weg. Ze beschikt over bijzondere krachten, maar op school wordt ze gemeden en veracht vanwege de littekens op haar huid. De verschijning van een knappe jongen op haar school zet haar wereld op zijn kop. Hij heeft dezelfde tekens op zijn huid als zij. Plotseling worden de geheimzinnige tekens als iets cools gezien en staat Herfstroos in het gevaarlijke middelpunt van de belangstelling. Bovendien heeft ze terugkerende dromen over Violet en de knappe vampierprins Kaspar Herfstroos moet Violet zien te redden voordat het te laat is.
5. De 100 – Kass Morgan
   Door een kernramp is de aarde onleefbaar geworden. De mensheid heeft zichzelf weten te redden en leeft nu in een ruimteschip dat rond de aarde zweeft. Niemand weet wanneer (of zelfs maar óf) de aarde weer leefbaar zal worden. Maar door de groeiende populatie en het opraken van de voorraden, moet er een beslissing genomen worden voordat het te laat is… De oplossing lijkt onmenselijk: 100 jeugdgevangenen worden naar de aarde gestuurd om deze te verkennen. Samen moeten ze proberen te overleven, maar wie kun je vertrouwen als je weet dat al je lotgenoten hier zitten omdat ze een crimineel verleden hebben?
6. De Endgame: de Opdracht – James Frey
   nu. vandaag. morgen.
   endgame is echt.
   endgame is begonnen.
   de toekomst ligt open.

En ja, het grootste gedeelte (eigenlijk alles behalve “De Kraamhulp”) is vertaald. Natuurlijk weer dubbel, maar voor die prijzen kon ik ze niet laten liggen, en van sommige was ik toch van plan te kopen, alleen dan in het Engels.

Ik was er thuis pas achter dat “Herfstroos” het tweede deel is van de serie “Heldin van de Duisternis”. Gelukkig had ik de week ervoor “Violet” gekocht. Ik ben erg benieuwd naar deze twee boeken, de achterkant klinkt veel belovend namelijk. En stiekem vind ik vampierboeken wel erg leuk!

Hoeveel boeken hebben jullie deze maand gekocht?

Deze maand heb ik eigenlijk vrijwel geen boeken gekocht. Eigenlijk heb ik zelf maar één boek gekocht deze maand, de overige twee waren cadeautjes. Dus heb ik besloten om van de twee maanden die ik heb overgeslagen ook een bookhaul te maken! Hierdoor lijkt dit echt een mega bookhaul, maar het is wel verspreidt over drie maanden, dus no worries!

Oktober

In oktober heb ik dus zelf één boek gekocht, en twee boeken gekregen. Eigenlijk heb ik drie boeken gekregen, ik heb namelijk ook mijn allereerste recensie exemplaar mogen ontvangen, wat natuurlijk super gaaf is! Hiervoor wil ik Clavis er graag bedanken om een “kans” te zien in mijn kleine blog J

Het gekochte boek is “de verbouwing” van Saskia Noort, deze heb ik lekker goedkoop kunnen kopen (yay voor tweedehands boeken!)

• De verbouwing – Saskia Noort
  Mathilde, succesvol plastisch chirurg, opent haar privékliniek. Ze lijkt aan de vooravond te staan van wat een glansrijk vervolg van haar carrière moet worden. Mathilde is als vrouw in elk opzicht geslaagd te noemen: ze is slim, combineert een groot zakelijk inzicht met een hoge morele standaard, ze is gelukkig getrouwd en heeft een intelligente puberzoon. Maar schijn bedriegt. Haar huwelijk wankelt en de verbouwing van hun huis, die geleid wordt door haar echtgenoot en een ‘groene’ aannemer, dreigt uit te lopen op een ramp. Dan accepteert Mathilde, wanhopig als ze is, de helpende hand van een oud vriendje. Daarmee manoeuvreert ze zich in een zodanige positie waaruit geen uitweg meer mogelijk lijkt.

En dan het recensie boek “Er zullen geen helden zijn” van Anna Seidl.

• Er zullen geen helden zijn – Anna Seidl
  Het zou een doordeweekse schooldag worden voor de vijftienjarige Miriam. Maar in de pauze hoort ze een schot. Eerst begrijpt niemand wat er gebeurt, dan slaat de paniek toe. Een leerling van de school is in het wilde weg om zich heen aan het schieten. Miriam houdt zich met haar vriendin Joanne schuil in de toiletten, tot ze haar vriendje Tobi zwaargewond ziet liggen. Ze wil hem helpen, maar de angst verlamt haar. En dan staat Miriam oog in oog met de dolle schutter … Een beklemmende roman voor Young Adults over verdriet en schuld na een schietpartij. De gevolgen voor het hoofdpersonage Miriam en de andere overlevenden zijn zwaar en verstrekkend. De auteur was zelf pas zestien toen ze dit overrompelende debuut schreef.

Dan de twee boeken die ik gekregen heb, dit zijn het tweede en het derde deel van een ander boek, namelijk “Fall of Giants” van Ken Follet. (Dit boek komt ook nog terug in deze bookhaul)

Het tweede boek heet “Winter of the World” en het derde boek heet “Edge of Eternity”.

September

In september heb ik toch wat meer boeken gekocht. Ik heb zelfs een boek gewonnen, en bij het ophalen bij Donner móet ik natuurlijk kijken bij de boeken, en wie kan al die boeken nu weerstaan! Ik niet namelijk!

• Strandwacht – Mariette Middelbeek
  Anne en Emma zijn met hun ouders op vakantie op een Zuid-Franse camping. Hoewel ze een tweeling zijn en qua uiterlijk erg op elkaar lijken, is dat vanbinnen helemaal niet zo. Emma is de vlotste van de twee, maakt makkelijk contact en heeft al snel een vriendje. Anne heeft zich voorgenomen ook te zoenen deze vakantie, maar verder dan de praatgrage en irritante Pascal komt ze niet. Anne en Emma sluiten zich aan bij het animatieteam en doen mee met allerlei leuke activiteiten. Als ze Simone, een van de begeleiders, willen verrassen met een blind date, lijkt dat een perfect idee. Maar op de avond van de date gaat er iets gruwelijk mis.

Verder heb ik bij Donner nog een Young Adult gekocht (“Lux: Beginnings” van Jennifer L Armentrout) en nog een soort thriller/dystopian (“Zombie Apocalypse” – Stephen Jones)

Ook was er verder ergens uitverkoop in een boekenwinkel, ook onder de Engelstalige boeken, dus ik moest daar zeker even kijken en heb toen voor nog geen 20 euro drie boeken kunnen scoren. Twee Young Adults en een thriller.

• All the light we cannot see – Anthony Doerr

Ook had de supermarkt weer boeken liggen, en voor die 3 of 4 euro (ik weet niet meer hoeveel het was) kan je boeken niet laten liggen. Zo weinig geld voor boeken in nieuwstaat, wie laat ze dan liggen?

En dan komen er toch weer twee tweedehands boeken tussendoor.

• Smaak – Jonathan Grimwood
  Jean-Marie Charles d’Aumout is wees, aristocraat, militair, spion en held van de Verlichting. Maar bovenal is hij chef. • Het lot van Callie & Kayden – Jessica Sorenson
  Callie wordt op haar twaalfde verjaardag alles ontnomen. Het gevolg is dat ze zich gevoelsmatig afsluit en zweert nooit te vertellen wat haar is overkomen. Jaren later domineert haar pijnlijke verleden echter nog steeds Callie’s dagelijks leven. Alles verandert als ze de mysterieuze en aantrekkelijke Kayden ontmoet die net als zij is gewend aan lijden in stilte. Kayden doet er alles aan met Callie bevriend te raken, ook al blijft zij afstandelijk en in zichzelf gekeerd. Hoe meer Kayden probeert deel van haar leven te worden, hoe duidelijker het wordt dat Callie moet worden gered.

Augustus

Eind augustus ben ik op vakantie gegaan en natuurlijk moet ik dan een boekenwinkel bezoeken. En dan natuurlijk ook een boekenwinkel die Engelse boeken verkoopt. Wat nog een behoorlijke taak is om een boekenwinkel te zoeken die Engelse boeken verkoopt, want niet elke winkel doet dat en je moet ook nog hopen dat, als ze dan toch Engelse boeken verkopen, ze nog een leuke collectie hebben.

• Wolfsbloed – Alexandra Penrhyn Lowe
  Eveline is in gevaar. Haar ontwaakte gaven maken haar tot loslopend wild voor geesten, demonen en het duistere genootschap de Broeders van Belial. Ze moet haar oude leven achter zich laten. • Nobody – Marelle Boersma

Ook deze maand heb ik nog een boek gewonnen, namelijk “Geek girl” van Holly Smale, wat natuurlijk super vet is! Zeker omdat ik zelf twijfelde om het boek aan te schaffen, dan is het zeker gaaf om het boek te winnen.

Al een tijdje wilde ik boeken bestellen via amazon.com, op internet ben ik wat rond gaan zoeken en daar las ik dat amazon.com je nogal naait met verzendkosten, je hebt namelijk standaard 7 dollar verzendkosten, en voor elke pond moet je ook nog verzendkosten betalen!<span “font-size:10.0pt;font-family:times;mso-fareast-font-family:”times=”” roman”;=”” mso-bidi-font-family:”times=”” roman””=””>
Zeker met boeken loopt dit op, want die zijn niet bepaald licht.
Na wat verder zoeken zag ik dat men in plaats van amazon.com amazon.de aanraadde, je hebt daar boven de 20 euro geen verzendkosten meer, wat natuurlijk super fijn is! Ook zit je niet met het omrekenen van dollar naar euro, omdat alles daar al in euro’s staat.

Ik heb in totaal 12 boeken besteld bij amazon voor 115 euro. Er zaten 4 hardcovers bij, ik vond het dus een redelijke prijs.
Er was echter één probleem, twee boeken konden niet geleverd worden en amazon.de zei dat mijn bestelling pas verzonden zou worden als deze twee boeken weer op voorraad waren. Dat is balen natuurlijk.
Uiteindelijk hebben ze gewoon 10 boeken verzonden, want in Duitsland waren de twee boeken na een paar dagen nog steeds niet op voorraad en dus heeft amazon.co.uk de overige twee boeken besteld, deze kwamen twee dagen na de bestelling van amazon.de binnen. Een redelijke tijd dus, zeker omdat het nog met boot verzonden moet worden naar Nederland. Amazon.de heeft ook geen extra kosten in rekening gebracht, want als je bestelt bij amazon.co.uk moet je ook verzendkosten betalen en dan nog verzendposten per pond.
